PUNE MEDICAL COLLEGE TRIO AMONG STANFORD'S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS

Dr Amitav Banerjee, Dr Sarika Chaturvedi, and Dr Sachin Atre, all from Dr DY Patil Medical College have been named among the 'Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in the Stanford University Rankings 2023'.

Inclusion in Stanford's 2023 World Top 2% Scientists Database reflects remarkable global research contributions, with 55 Pune-based Indian researchers among 4,635 in the prestigious list of over 200,000 researchers worldwide, according to a hospital statement.


Dr Amitav Banerjee, a Professor of Community Medicine and Chief Editor of the Medical Journal boasts a remarkable research career of over four decades. His wide research portfolio includes significant studies on various epidemics such as typhoid, hepatitis, respiratory infections and pneumonia.



Dr Sarika Chaturvedi, a Senior Scientist with a PhD from the renowned Karolinska Institute in Sweden, primarily focuses on public health and traditional medicine. Her most cited work revolves around her diligent contributions to public healthcare, where she assesses disease burdens and estimates disease risk factors.



Dr Sachin Atre, a Research Consultant and adjunct faculty at the Department of Community Medicine, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pune and has been recognized with the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Postdoc Fellowship at Harvard Medical School in the USA. His noteworthy research covers tuberculosis, drug-resistant tuberculosis, nutrition, diabetes, leprosy and access to medicines.


The recognition of these three distinguished people underscores their exceptional contributions to global research. Their inclusion among a select group of researchers out of over 200,000 worldwide is a testament to their significant contributions to the scientific community.
